Dr. Marya Wahidi, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan and a member of the University’s Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE), has made significant strides in global health advocacy, with a particular focus on the well-being of women refugees in Lebanon and throughout the broader Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. Through her research on health equity, she has worked to address the systemic barriers preventing underserved communities from accessing quality healthcare. Her initiatives emphasize empowering women by raising awareness of health disparities and collaborating with organizations to implement sustainable solutions.
As the Administrative Chair of NextGen National and the Convention Coordinator for the 34th NAAMA International Medical Convention, Dr. Wahidi plays a vital role in bridging the gap between students and professionals, creating spaces for mentorship opportunities, and organizing impactful summits that foster professional growth. Her leadership ensures that Arab-American medical students and young professionals have the resources and support needed to excel while inspiring them to contribute to global health efforts.
She recently matched into her chosen specialty, Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she plans to continue her advocacy and global health work throughout her training.
