Dr. Chadi Calarge is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics and the Thomas S. Trammell Research Professor in Child Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. He practices at Texas Children’s Hospital, specializing in the consultation-liaison service.
After earning his medical degree from Lebanese University, he completed training in General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Iowa, where he later joined the faculty as a clinical investigator with NIH and non-federal funding.
Dr. Calarge’s research pioneered the study of skeletal and metabolic effects of psychotropics in youth, as well as iron deficiency in antipsychotic-treated children. His current work explores the skeletal impact of psychostimulants, the neuropsychiatric effects of iron deficiency, and the gut-brain axis.
